Secret Penguin Page
Wil was humble, thoughtful, and kind. I remember his gentle voice — and his adventurous spirit. At any moment he might notice a fire escape, climb it, and snap a photograph which showed the whole town in a new light from a special vantage he’d just discovered.
His studio was filled with penguins of every kind — figurines, toys, illustrations. As a fellow penguin connoisseur, I’ll call this The Secret Penguin Page.
The strongest insight I learn from Wil’s work echoes how I remember him as a person. There’s a humbleness to every photograph, yet each image reveals clear, deliberate precision — the distinct way he saw something special in that moment. I always find inspiration in his compositions from the magic he sees in seemingly ordinary scenes. He is an exemplar of what fine art photography can achieve — a transcendent philosophy, humor, and joy, hidden in plain sight all around us.
